A few months ago, in “debugging the vibes,” I explained how vibe coding was reaching the MVP production stage, when just a couple of years ago, you could only get a demo from these tools, yet we were not yet there in terms of being “production-ready.”
But I also highlighted another key thing in one of my most recent pieces: if you’re a domain expert, then you’re either an experienced coder or perhaps a product manager. We’re already moving to the production-ready stage with vibe coding.
Now, I want to show you a few more interesting findings from where we are in the AI coding market, which, still today, is mistakenly all lumped into the vibe coding segment.
The age distribution data for vibe coding platforms tells a fascinating story, but not the one you might expect, in what I like to call here “the demographic destiny.”
While everyone's focused on the tools and the hype, the demographics reveal something more profound: we're witnessing a generational handoff of software development paradigms, and it's happening faster than anyone predicted.
A first glimpse here.
Let’s break it down!
