Context matters a lot in business, and in the contextual mapping framework, I’ve shown you how to identify the company's core focus while being aware of key uncertainties and keeping a contingency plan in place if anything goes wrong.
That’s all part of setting up the grand strategy based on the mapped territory.
Now it is time to map it.
That’s pure strategy.
From Territory to Map
Strategy is about how to translate that territory understanding into a map, on top of which we can execute the following:
Avoid traps in the territory that might hamper the business for good.
Identify the parts of the territory where we can more likely survive.
Recognize the parts of the territory where there are more chances to create scaling options to enable short-term survival and long-term flourishing.
Its main goal is to drive execution in the right direction while keeping it flexible enough to respond quickly to territory changes.
