There can be no agentic web without its transactional side. It doesn’t matter how much intelligence AI might produce; this will become a sustainable business ecosystem, at scale, only when your agent can be the intermediary between you and most of the transactions you do online (and thus taking a small cut, in the form of a microtransaction for every purchase you make).
This part is even more relevant to me, as I’ve been calling out for quite some time (ChatGPT won’t be able to scale past a billion users without turning into a shopping agent), and as I’m directly exposed to the topic, having joined the team at WordLift as the Chief Revenue Officer.
I have the opportunity to witness firsthand how AI search is rapidly transforming the e-commerce landscape, disrupting the traditional digital distribution pipeline while creating a new one.
And this journey just began!
